Pablo Gomez was born in Ecuador
in 1964. He is a descendant of the Inca Culture. His work
tries to represent him and the roots of the Andes
community of South America. Pablo makes the clay masks based
on his dreams and imagination as well as the faces and
expressions of people. The masks are therefore both magical
and realistic.
Many of the superbly detailed masks are also
related to the expression and faces of Incas and Amerindians.
Pablo studied visual art including ceramic, gold, silver and
art recycling in Ecuador and Peru. He has exhibited his work
with "Convenio Andres Bello" (HispanoAmerica Foundation) in
Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Spain and with
Ecuadorian Embassy in the UK.
Over the past years, Pablo has
placed his works of art in competitions in Quito city, the
capital of Ecuador:
First prize in the 9th
Competicion National Masks Exhibition in 1995.
Third prize in the 10th
Competicion National Masks Exhibition in 1996.
Honour to mention in the 11th
Competicion National Masks Exhibition in 1997.
