I
have been taking photographs for many years now, but it is
only in the last 3 - 4 years that I have concentrated on
flower photography. I love getting in close to the flower and
concentrating on simple colour and form. These are, after all,
what a flower uses to fulfil its function. Concentrating on
these two elements is a fascinating discipline - it forces you
look very closely at the object that you want to photograph,
and it makes you very critical about what you want to include
in the final image.
Technically there is nothing
particularly advanced in these photos. I use extension tubes
to get in close, and always use a tripod to get crisp results.
I still shoot using slide film, but digital is rapidly
approaching slide quality and I will probably switch over to
digital within the next few years.
I exhibit as much as I can.
Recently my flower photos won a medal at the RHS London Flower
Show. I hope you like the pictures, and get as much pleasure
from them as I have.
